Battle of Quimperle & Guernsey

Minor battle early in the Hundred Years War. An English force commanded by Sir Walter de Mauney surprised the fleet of Louis of Spain, and was able to defeat the troops guarding it before the main force returned. When Louis and his main force did reappear, Mauney was able to defeat them by charging their flanks from positions hidden in woodland. This is the first naval battle in the history where artillery was used.a
